But there's nationalism in everything, even music.

Do I understand you right? You are indeed one of those russians who justify a war? A good example for this topic.

Music of the post-romantic era held a "nationalistic" guise, whilst actually representing the liberation of peoples stolen from their homelands.

Ok, sorry, I misunderstood you when you cited my post. I though it was in relation with good old russian fairy tales about some mythical nazi in Ukraine.

When I listen to Rihanna talking about Rude Boys, questioning whether said Rude Boys are indeed big enough, and whether they can in fact get it up, I am awash with national fervour.

Those dastardly Russians, they're at it again! Look at them, playing chess, menacingly!

Also we should make a quick note that if we demand Russians disavow the war in order to be allowed to play chess we're actually asking that they risk getting shot to be allowed to play chess. I think that would make us the monsters.
It is insane to blame Russian civilians for Ukraine. The military is made up of conscription (forced labor) and the Wagner group prisoners that are released from prison in order to kill and be killed. (I think you have to have a long sentence. To qualify)
Seriously the virtue signaling has got to stop. I was utterly against the Marxist BLM support of this site and this is why I will never become a patron until it becomes completely a chess site nothing more. It should not matter where someone comes from. There are evil people everywhere in every single country. Regardless if you are making a chess site for people in general everyone should be invited as long as they follow the rules of chess game behavior.
Is Putin evil? Absolutely. Is BLM evil - the Marxist organization not the simple statement they stole (which of course is totally right)? Absolutely. However some people will disagree with my statements and they have the right to do so.
This is not the site for politics (aside from the everything else forum I guess), and I don't see why people who have not cheated in chess games or broken any other standard chess rules should not be allowed to join regardless of their personal political opinions.
Chess.com was banned from Russia for standing firmly against them.

Here in lichess you have Thibault that posts a flag of Ukraine and jokes about being "Drug Fueled Atheists" or "Communists".
You have also a lot of discussions on the Forum, Pro-Russian Mods and Pro-Ukrainian Mods.

I love the Ukrainian people that is suffering, but there is few things that I can do, Europe and USA makes a lot of mistakes and cause a lot of suffering to others aswell. Not as much as Russia is doing, but they do.
