Some people just leave a game without resigning - implement automatic reminder not to do that?

Sometimes my opponent just leaves the game and I have to stare at the screen waiting that his time runs out. I find this unpolite and unpleasant.

Sometimes Lichess sends me a notification that my opponent may have left the game and the opportunity to claim victory or a draw. But this is the exception.

I would welcome if Lichess would implement a feature that lets you send an automized message whenever your opponent loses on time while being offline, saying something like "You left a game while your opponent was still waiting for your move. Please consider resigning next time instead of letting your opponent watching your clock run off.."

This message could then be sent by clicking some button that appears whenever an opponent leaves.
i send them an angrily worded message until they respond.
It's not that they don't know it's wrong to leave a game...

It's that they know its wrong, but do it anyways and don't care if it pisses you off. Saying "hey don't do that" unfortunately won't fix anything.
as unpleasant illmannered whatever u want to call it may be, what they do with their clock is their thing.

Sure sportmanship is something else, but this is the internet...
Li'l Puppet has NEVER left a game instead of resigning. It's a cowardly and malicious move made by an immature, spoiled player. Puppet has, however, either aborted or decided not to play the 1st move because LP didn't feel like playing that particular opponent. Lil' Puppet was chastised for that and now kicks it with whomever is there. Because of said chastitazation for those chessticular antics PUPPET WILL now, and does report you if you try that. Eventually a monitor may reprimand said opponent who wrongs you, God willing.
"[...]and I have to stare at the screen waiting that his time runs out."

No, you don't have to do that.
Those people.....It's allways very annoying.

I block them when somebody does that, so I don't have to deal with them again..... or what I think is a really fun countermeasure;

Just give them so much extra time, and than do some puzzles or something else. So they can't play anymore any other game until they resign. (I think when they leave lichess overall you can claim victory anyhow)

I think it's a fun way to deal with those people if you have the time to take a breack from playing.

I don't know if it's possible to do this thing with the messages, it sounds reasonable, but there are maybe some people, who have acutally issues with the connection and doesn't do it intended.

Cheers :)

yeah, but if you give em too much extra time, then they might come back and beat YOU on time!

#9 Yeah, true, but according to my experience, most people who let the time run down to annoy you, do that, when they are one or two moves aways from a checkmate.

And you get a notificiation when it's your move. But well, you should stay near to your computer or cellphone, so this does not happen ;)
