You reminded me of a book I once saw called "Material World: A Global Family Portrait" by Peter Menzel. I never owned the book to read it, but it was presented at a conference I was at and the speaker showed a few pictures. I never forgot the images I saw of the possessions of an average family in a wealthy country vs the possession of an average family in a poor country. It is shameful that we still haven't figured out how to feed the planet... or worse that we have figured it out, but just don't care.
