Kramnik-PeshkaCh: you have guessed it ofc...

i dont understand why he thought d4 was so hard to find lmao
I have played against Peshka once...in my opinion he was one of the best CM's at that time, when i played him. Now he is one of the best FM's. Im a bad player but i had a chance to win against Peshka, but i blewed it because i was extremely stressed...embarrising.
seems like mr. kramnik missed an obvious tactic (literally in peshka's position the point was to manifest a way to win the knight) and then has the "if i no see dis move, he cheat" mentality
Imagine if online chess and cheating issue existed when kramnik was world champion LOL
And yetmy friends, it is possiblee. I have been awarded several games here at LiChess with a notification that cheating was detected. I wonder how many are not detected. Yes, indeed, it makes the mind boggle.

It is true that some players are cheating and by far not all of them have been detected (yet), but one should definitely not publicly accuse the opponents without very substantial arguments. The move like d5-d4 is not too hard to find, and that particular game does not look too strange. There are many good things and many bad things connected to online chess, but after all, playing tournaments like Titled Tuesday is not obligatory, and people who do not feel comfortable there have every right not to play it. After all, there are a plenty of OTB events, including strong rapid and blitz tournaments.
Back in 2006 GM Kramnik understandably found an ungrounded accusation very offensive, but now he does the same thing, or a very similar one.
If he had been fighting against online cheating with more adequate means (like calling for two cameras in important events) back in 2020-2021 when playing over the board was very complicated, he would most likely get a large support from other titled players. But somehow his statements can be heard much more often nowadays than back then, when even some players rated around 2700 were struggling to earn as little 500 euros per month. (That was my experience for about half a year, at the peak of the pandemic. I was working on my chess, occasionally giving lessons and playing online events, yet very rarely winning prizes in them.) GM Kramnik is of course a legendary player and still very strong, but that does not mean that we would have to agree with his views and statements. (After all, you do not have to agree with my views and statements, either.)
Cheating is a real problem that definitely needs to be addressed, but accusations like the one from the video only make the situation worse.
I’m the same age as Kramnik and my playing strength, especially at online blitz is decreasing noticeably each passing year. I often get frustrated and angry at myself. Kramnik puts the blame on cheating, but these are just two similar psychological responses to the same sorry fact that we are getting older and are declining.
