Communication Guidelines

There are many available options on Lichess to communicate with other users, including your opponents, friends, fans, and coaches. In order to keep Lichess fun for everyone, we have a few policies on how the various communication features can be used. Please note that failure to follow these policies can result in moderator actions - including removal of posts, time-outs, official warnings, and site-wide communication bans.

Forum Etiquette

This policy covers behaviour guidelines on the Forum.

Chat Etiquette

This policy covers behaviour guidelines for all public chats.

Blog Etiquette

This policy covers behaviour guidelines for blog posts.

Other

The above policies are not exhaustive, and disrespectful private messages, abusive study or tournament names, and inappropriate or malicious profile text may also result in moderator action. As a general rule, all communication on the site should follow the general ideals as listed in the two documents linked above - keep Lichess fun for everyone.
