After you lose, respect your opponent and say either good game or well played.

@Attrix, This opinion seems perfectly legitimate only from the standing point of someone who doesn't win so often. Therefore, such a rare occurrence (winning a game) definitely deserves some respect, every single time when it happens. I agree.
I would agree @Qudit
it seams that this chess site as well as many others are plague with this issue.

I personally am happy as long as my opponent does not wait for the clock to run out instead of resigning and does not blunder and then get angry when I refuse to grant a takeback.
The majority of people don't say a word and I am fine with that. I often chat during games (in several languages) but never expect someone else to respond. Nor do I expect a good game. As others have said, I'd be happy if they'd just use the resign button rather than abandoning games. I'd also be happy if we could set a maximum disconnect percentage and not even see challenges from people who exceed it.
Off topic: people who run the clock, if proven, deserve a permanent ban. Such poor sportsmanship has no place in the king's game. If you suspect this behavior, you are suppose to report the abuse. However I also suggest that you block the player. If enough of you block the "immature", there will be no one left to play. There is still the problem of this quasimodo registering under a different user name and repeating the same toxic behavior.
I respect everyone's points. Hopefully we all up the gratitude, win or loss, and take the tiniest action. If not, I guess I can come here to complain more. Thank You! and Good Game!
Good game is implied in the rematch offer ("good enough to play again"). And I just can't be sure if you played well if I haven't checked the game with an engine yet.
I do not like to shake hands because who knows what are on their nasty hands
Good will gestures are always appreciated, but I don't become distraught if my opponent has no words after the match.

The game speaks for itself most of the time.
