Scid 4.5.2 or Scid 4.6.2

Hi,
I want to start with Scid and tried out both versions a bit and somehow I slightly like the older version a bit more.
Is there some mayor advantage of the newer version or a serious bug in the older one?
The newest version is 4.6.4!

I heard the newer version is faster, got a lot of bugs fixed and has the prettier pieces ;)

Of course you can add the 4.6.4 pieces to the old version too.

But in fact, I don't know the 4.5.2 version at all.
I know Scid vs. PC is much better now since they FINALLY made high quality vector pieces. Looks like scid 4.6 uses vector pieces.

You know what's sad for chessbase is that these very old GUI's like arena, scid, and newer ones like chessx, lucaschess, do things better than chessbase. In CB, filter by time control doesn't work or you can't enter your player name and have it autoflip board.
I haven't tried the 4.6.4 because there is only a 64 bit version and no 32 bit for windows.
#3 I think you're talking about SCID (which is not equal to "SCID vs PC"). And the pieces are not vector images, but high quality raster graphics.

#4 sadly I failed to compile a 32 bit windows binary of the latest version under linux. I am sorry about that. Seems like the makefiles are not really prepared for compiling w32 binaries under linux.
@3

Chessbase is generally superior to all these gui around. Online games as reference, prepare for opponents, tree generation of a player's move, position analysis, use of cloud engines, opening report, player report, position and material searches are only among those features that this app is capable of.
Scids gamelist sorting/filtering feature beats all other chess databases.

For example, i regulary filter my five million + games database by games where both players are above 2200 elo (except games where the date is before 1930), then i sort it by rating/date, then i live-filter it by current board position. The live filtering is extremely fast, it takes around 0.3 secs on each move.

When i once tried live filtering with Chessbase 11 it regulary lasted over two seconds, sometimes i got game doubles and somethimes the game list wouldnt load at all. Maybe it has been fixed, who knows. I wont pay money to test it.

Scid vs. PC doesnt have any game list filtering features.
What is the use of too much filtering.

If I review games, chessbase will directly show to me which move from my database (6.6+ million games) is latest and have a high average rating, showed in the "hot" column. hotness defines the combined measure of latest games and high average rating.

In the livebook just look at the number of visits, this is where the people are currenly been looking at mostly. Sort of a trending move and under deep examination.

Here is a Scid Screenshot with Database filtered by 2600 Elo +, then sorted by date and then live filtered (the button bottom left), the equivalent to 'hotness'. Due to my current refresh of my database (TWIC downloads, also free) it is actually two months 'hotter' ;-)
