Three years of on and off playing.
Still working on it after about 2 years. Hopefully in a couple more years I'll get there. Usually classical is my highest rating, i'm about 200 points away, then the others catch up.

You will get there wherever there is for you @Rashell29 As for myself awhile back' when there was no internt Chess between 1983 & 1989 I gained 1000 USCF Rating points 1255 - 2251 . I believe I was 2053 then went down to 1921 before going back' up' . Remember to KEEP GOINNG if you love Chess @Rashell29 @ak_saha & live life' Good Luck' ... Of course when you make it to certain levels you want to go to the next or after many years you wonder what it would've been like to have been an FM IM or GM . I played in Southern California State Championship twice in a row in 1993 & 1994 . The shorter answer for me was around 3 years to your question (2000 uscf but then went down before going up') I played sports as a youngster but don't remember not lknowing how the Chess pieces move as i was taught at age 4 just the moves no strategy until I read everything Chess books-wise back then' . if you want something in life do it nothing in life easy however you can do well

I was getting nowhere for years . Years! Then I went to Chicago and took a crap on a park bench. My rating went straight to 2000 after that
1 year of chess in lockdown. (I played lichess like 15 hours per day)
I am better aT 1700 cause I want to make Chess as Fun
