Season 11 - Third Level - Group E

It’s crunch time as we head into the final month of the 11th Correspondence League – with titles, promotions and relegations all set to be decided.

The final three rounds will all be played simultaneously from Saturday, and the beauty of the format means no promotions have yet been confirmed and the only relegations are down to withdrawals.

Here is how things stand in your group ahead of rounds seven, eight and nine. A reminder – if two players finish on the same score, the following tiebreaks will apply in this order:

#1: Points vs. tied participants
#2: Match wins
#3: Sonnerborn-Berger score against group (not calculated in these league tables).

I’ve tried to include the various tiebreaks in the tables.

Group E (tier 3)
1. Yunier2017 P6 Pts 12
2. RichardHandy P6 Pts 9
--------------------------------------
3. Lucas236 P6 Pts 8
4. WorldChampPrep P6 Pts 6
5. marathonmann1966 P6 Pts 5 (Sonnenborn-Berger calculation required with TrueZarathustra)
6. TrueZarathustra P6 Pts 5
7. Silviopetra P7 Pts 5 (inferior head-to-head vs TrueZarathustra)
8. putiferio61 P5 Pts 4 (more wins than El_Bulto44)
--------------------------------------
9. El_Bulto44 P5 Pts 4
10. Joueurs P9 Pts 4 (R) (withdrawn)

While Yunier2017 appears to have the title and promotion within their grasp with six wins out of six, there are some almighty tussles going on below them.

RichardHandy and Lucas236 are duking it out over the second promotion spot to the second level - they are separated by just a point and will meet in round eight, when Lucas will have the white pieces.

While WorldChampPrep still has an outside shot at promotion, in truth anyone from fourth down could join the withdrawn Jouers in the relegation zone come the end of the season. The picture is also complicated by round six games between marathonmann1966 and WorldChampPrep and between putiferio61 and El_Bulto44 still being in progress.

Big fixtures at the bottom over the coming month will include Silviopetra vs marathonmann1966, marathonmann1966 vs TrueZarathustra, TruZarathustra vs El_Bulto and Silviopetra vs putiferio61 to name just a few. This is one of many groups that is just too close to call.

Best of luck to all competitors in your final three games!
