Not caring helps

TournamentChess Personalities
Hikaru Nakamura- winner of the 2023 Norway chess, when interviewed said that his key factor was the 'I do not care' attitude really helped him. Lets take a dive into what he means

Hikaru Nakamura, the winner of the 2023 Norway chess, said that he didn't care to win. Why, you may ask? Well of course, Hikaru is an online sensation and also a Rapid and Blitz maestro, so, is it because, he cares less about classic? Well, not many know yet (at least not me), so I am not sure. But, one thing is certain-
His I don't care attitude really helps.

How?

Now please do not tell me that you haven't seen philosophers (maybe even parents, who knows?) say,

Don't worry about the result. Keep going

Well, I think Hikaru took that one really seriously. When Chess.com interviewed him in between the final rounds, he said,

Doesn't matter if I get selected for the candidates or not. I do not really care much about it now. I am quite chilled.

Hmmm...

Questions raised, isn't it?

Why is Hikaru not caring?
Does he not want to get into Candidates?
What can I learn from this?

Well, it is simple

We all can learn from Hikaru by just not caring about the result. Keep going. Keep playing. And automatically, you see that your wins are much higher than your draws/losses. So this process, which may have seemed quite philanthropic and philosophical till now, is actually been proven a genius, by none other than our dear Nakamura.
