Do you feel that you need a laptop to improve or a tablet is good enough (2200 to 2400/2500)?

Hello, I am 2200ish FIDE. I have played for a long time. I was studying on books when I was younger and then I started to use chess software when I was around 2000 (mostly Chessbase). I don't feel that I have used it a lot, mostly to check what my opponents were going to play, create my repertoire and review books in database format.

Currently I am using an old laptop that is almost not working anymore and I am wondering if I need a laptop or a tablet would be good enough. I play a lot of chess from my phone and that's fine for me. I also read a lot of chess books on Kindle. I think that lichess is very accessible also by tablet/phone and the functions I use the most (tactics and play) are perfect also on phone/tablet.

I want to improve in chess and work seriously on my game so I am not sure if I am overlooking something. For people in a similar situation, do you feel that you need a laptop to run software like engines and chess databases or that everything can be done by a tablet/smartphone nowadays?

Once upon a time there was a fish called Stock that won every challenge with all other fishes because he calculated all,every move of his opponents with extreme accuracy. It was real brute force. One day suddenly he lost a game against an old fish. This old fish had played many battles and many of them were losses for him. Old fish ability and force were inferior compared to Stock.
"What is your secret?" Stock exclaimed
"I have no secret at all,i simply know what are good moves and what ones are bad. I learnt all from my own experience and particularly from my losses against other fishes" The old fish replied.
"I am Stock,i had never lost 1 challenge,what is your name?"
"My name is Nnue".
Stock and Nnue began to train together becoming much stronger together. Old and new fish together. Old and new road together. Stock became a stronger fish than he could even think because he finally understood that it is not quantity of calculation that counts but the quality of it. You see,at this moment you want to be Stock,but do not underestimate old laptop or old software: if it makes a mistake,you can try to correct it. No need to have SF 14,even Fritz8 does its job.You can drive a Saleen or an Opel,but whatever car you have does not change your driver ability.
Did Fischer have phone or laptop?
wow 2200 rated fide , from technology stand point computer or laptop will have more computing power for the engine preparation for players... also chessbase and i guess any database is more accessible through the computer interface. Also for me bullet and in general blitz chess is more easy to play and less chance of miss clicks in laptop

But dont know the chess side of this ...like what is the best interface etc...
@DrZwischenzug can't take a joke, can you?

@ChessBlitzShow normally it would depend on whether you were serious about reaching the top ranks of chess or just doing it has a hobby, but in this case you seem to be a high-rated amateur. Are you willing to be spending money for better user interfaces? Or do you just want to play chess as a game?
Either a laptop or a tablet would be fine for your purposes but assuming that they are priced about the same, I would go with a laptop since there is a great variety of software. I use a tablet to play on chess servers since I can usually avoid the issue of a mouse slip but either choice is fine.

A tablet does have an advantage in that it is generally more portable and you have an easier time with programs since you do have to worry about having the right specs to put a specific program so a tablet does have advantage.
ChessBase on a tablet… thanks but no thanks. Actually I got a notebook and a mobile. No tablet.
Bro chess is not a videogame, if you want to improve get a book, a crappy 30 years old laptop with windows xp and you can challenge Carlsen if you train hard. Kasparov for example didn't have a computer and things like that and he has been world champion for many years.
