Caro Kann or French Defense?

The Caro Kann and The French Defense might be some of the far most similar opening I have ever seen for black except for maybe the English and the Sicilian.
The French and the Caro Kann both try to take control of the dark squares rather than the white. The French is a locked in game and the Caro Kann is pretty open more since you get a open light square bishop, Although there are many more traps and tricks in the Caro Kann for the opposing team.
I suggest the Caro Kann for New players Though I have been playing the French for a year and a half. In my option there is no better, I depends on you, But the French is more playing on higher levels! The French puts more pressure on white.
