Why don't people resign?

Instead they let the clock run out of time. Really what's the point? You just humilliate yourself with a childish attitude.
People don't pay attention to the clock. Instead, they have a vague sense of time and start blitzing out moves when they think they are low on time.
Some people don't even know how to resign or that they can resign. So they either lose on time or by checkmate.
Ego. Sir. Some people feel it hurts their ego less. Welcome to the immature world of online chess.
People with low rate are those that tend to insult and abandon games.
It is rare to see this kind of behavior in a strong player.
In fact, a while ago I played against a 1500 and has insulted me, showing me his great intelligence
It's very rare to see 2000+ rated players play against 1500s. I guess they do this to inflate their ego or to protect their trophies. Nobody likes to get slaughtered.
@8 I'm a +2000, so I will give me for alluded.
Sometimes I play against a 1500 or 1600 because I'm tired but I want to play some games. Of course there are people who play against weak to get a high score. In fact, I played against some +2200 with the level of a1950
